Everything we do is tailored around you and your specific requirements, something that is easy to say, but which takes a fully dedicated team to deliver.

Nothing is too much trouble for our staff.

We are a regular venue for christenings, 18th – 100th birthday parties - indeed any family occasion, including funerals.

We offer a selection of hot and cold buffet menus and can cater for up to 200 people.

We aim to help you every step of the way to make your dreams come true and give you the wedding of your dreams.

Pre wedding celebrations for “Hens”

We can offer an unforgettable day or weekend away with friends to celebrate your forthcoming wedding. We can accommodate up to 17 hens if you take over the hotel for your celebrations, our owner-chef Mike Allchorne will be happy to cook up a treat, and our event co-ordinator Carole will be happy to make your dreams come true.

Accommodation for friends and family

Many of your guests will be travelling to your wedding; others may just want to avoid driving when attending your reception or evening party.

We are delighted to be able to offer special rates for your friends and family to stay overnight, but do advise them to book well in advance.

Your arrival, photographs and drinks

Your guests are generally offered a celebration drink upon arrival; this is often combined with canapés and even a musical accompaniment.

We often serve drinks on the lawn overlooking the fells, weather permitting.

This is also the opportunity for photographs of you, your family and friends with the breathtaking views of our gardens and the fells as a backdrop.

The reception

Your guests are often formally welcomed to your reception by a receiving line of the “Top Table” which you will have chosen. Usually a table/seating plan will have been prepared in advance and agreed with you to help guests find their tables.

The style and set up of the room is totally up to you, it can be as formal or informal as you like.

We have photographs available and details of past weddings to assist in the planning of your special day.

We can also help and advise on:

We can provide a Toast Master for the proceedings to make the announcements and introductions as required.

Speeches and toasts may be made either before or after the wedding meal you have chosen.

Owner-chef Mike Allchorne will be happy to create a special menu just for you or you may find it helpful to browse our sample menus at the bottom of this webpage.

It is customary to provide some wine for the meal and celebration drinks for the toasts.

After that, for some it is an “open bar” all night, for others it is “pay as you go!”

Our house restaurant can comfortable seat 100 guests, the house café can be transformed into the perfect venue for smaller receptions seating 50 guests.

The evening reception/party

The formalities are over, now is the chance to let your hair down, circulate among your guests and party! It is also the opportunity to invite other friends to share in your celebrations.

We can accommodate 150 people for the evening, or you could reserve the whole hotel and have a party for 200 or more!

In the evening you will want to offer your guests a meal and this is usually a buffet selection. You may decide to offer your guests an arrival drink or hold another celebration toast. Alternatively, you might fund an “open bar” for a period or simply leave it to your guests!

We would be delighted to advise on entertainment for the evening.

Honeymoon Night

We are pleased to be able to offer a choice of accommodation for your wedding night and full English breakfast the next morning.

Fanned Honeydew Melon served with Orange and Grapefruit Segments
